Fellow Batswana,
I humbly call on all citizens to exercise patience and give President DGB and his administration the opportunity to address the many challenges facing our nation.
As it stands, the government is currently implementing the National Transitional Development Plan (NTDP)—a framework that was adopted by the previous administration. Despite its poor execution in the past, the current government is duty-bound to see this plan through to its completion.
Meanwhile, the new administration under President Duma Boko is hard at work developing a fresh and visionary National Transformation Development Plan, which is expected to be presented and adopted during the ongoing July session of Parliament.
It is important for Batswana to understand that the previous administration made decisions that severely compromised our country’s financial integrity and international reputation. Government contracts were awarded, and purchase orders were issued to suppliers and service providers without confirming the availability of funds, in direct violation of established financial rules and procedures. These irresponsible actions have left behind a trail of problems that the current leadership must now correct.
As a responsible citizen, I feel compelled to clarify these issues so that we can all have a better understanding of the situation. The current administration is not idle—it is working diligently to craft a development plan that responds directly to the needs of the people. This upcoming plan will adopt a people-centered approach, one that ensures no one is left behind.
I urge all Batswana to remain hopeful, patient, and focused. The process of national recovery has begun. Plans are underway to address the social and economic challenges affecting our daily lives.
We are looking forward to the official launch of the new National Transformation Development Plan, which will be implemented immediately after being adopted by the National Assembly.
As we say in Setswana:
“Betang pelo, ba Morena lemo siele sebaka—o tla itse go fetola tsotlhe molemo wa rona.”
“Tsholofelo ga e tlhabise ditlhong.”
Let us unite in purpose and support one another during this transitional period. Together, we will rebuild our nation and secure a brighter future for all.
