Chobe Holdings Limited, Botswana’s leading ecotourism company, has announced impressive financial results for the year ended 28 February 2025, with revenue surging by 18% to P638.76 million, up from P543.14 million in the previous year. This robust growth is a reflection of the company’s resilience and strategic investments in its hospitality and aviation operations, even as it underwent major renovations and global supply chain challenges.
The revenue increase was driven by higher yields and improved revenue per available room across the group’s two key hospitality brands, Desert & Delta Safaris and Ker & Downey Botswana. Sustained marketing efforts and the successful reopening of upgraded properties, including the fully reconstructed Savute Safari Lodge, contributed to the strong performance. Additionally, the acquisition of Caravan Ex for P35 million enhanced aircraft availability, supporting the group’s Safari Air operations and reinforcing its integrated tourism model.
Despite rising operational costs and a 4% dip in profit before tax—attributed to foreign exchange fluctuations and increased depreciation from recent capital expenditures—the company’s expansion into Zambia and the launch of Maxa Camp under the Ker & Downey brand position it for long-term growth. Occupancy rates also improved to 61%, reflecting strong demand for Botswana’s high-end safari experiences.
Looking ahead, Chobe Holdings is optimistic about maintaining momentum, with newly upgraded lodges and eased supply chain bottlenecks expected to further boost profitability. The board declared a dividend of 60 thebe per share, reaffirming its commitment to shareholder returns.
As the only listed ecotourism firm in Botswana, Chobe Holdings continues to offer investors a unique opportunity to benefit from Botswana’s thriving travel industry. With a solid foundation and strategic vision, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on recovering global travel demand in the years ahead.
