Botswana Insurance Company (BIC), Botswana’s leading short-term insurer, has officially reopened its Maun branch at Newtown/New Mall, Maun, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to insurance services across Botswana.

The reopening marks a significant milestone in BIC’s ongoing strategy to bring its services closer to customers, ensuring greater accessibility, improved service delivery, and stronger community engagement.

Speaking at the event, Group CEO Newton Jazire highlighted the importance of proximity in delivering meaningful financial protection. “Being present in Maun means being closer to the people and businesses that drive this region’s economy. It means providing faster support, better advice and stronger partnerships with tourism operators, entrepreneurs, farmers and families who are building their futures here.”

The reopening also reflects BIC’s broader focus on customer-centric innovation and digital transformation, aimed at improving efficiency and delivering seamless service experiences across all touchpoints.

Established in 1975, BIC has built a legacy as Botswana’s first national insurer, playing a pivotal role in safeguarding the country’s economic assets and supporting financial resilience. Today, the company maintains a strong market position, underpinned by its international Baa2 investment rating from Moody’s, robust claims-paying ability, and continued investment in operational excellence.

The newly reopened Maun branch is designed to provide a full suite of short-term insurance solutions, including personal, commercial, and specialised products. These offerings cater to a wide range of needs, from motor and household insurance to business protection and agricultural cover.

The reopening also reflects BIC’s broader focus on customer-centric innovation and digital transformation, aimed at improving efficiency and delivering seamless service experiences across all touchpoints.

“Insurance is often misunderstood. Many see it as a grudge purchase, a regulatory requirement, or simply paperwork, but in reality, insurance is an essential part of economic stability. It allows a small business to recover from an unexpected loss. It is what protects the vehicles, homes, and livelihoods of hardworking Batswana,” Jazire added.
As BIC celebrates over five decades of service, the company remains focused on delivering on its promise of “Making Life Better” through trusted, responsive, and innovative insurance solutions.
