South African Tourism has established an industry-led Advisory Committee to oversee the seamless execution of Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025. The committee, consisting of key tourism stakeholders, will play a crucial role in enhancing the annual trade show, which serves as a premier platform for Africa’s tourism industry.
The Advisory Committee will convene weekly to discuss critical aspects of the event, ensuring it remains a world-class business platform that delivers value for exhibitors and buyers. Key focus areas include exhibitor and buyer engagement, logistical efficiencies, programme enhancements, and overall event quality.
The committee comprises prominent figures from various sectors of the tourism industry, including David Frost from SATSA, Suzanne Bayly from Classic Portfolio, Kgomotso Ramothea from ATTA, Andrew Camp from Sun International, Dorcas Dlamini from Marriott, and Martin Botha from Tourvest. Their collective expertise is expected to strengthen the event’s positioning as Africa’s leading tourism trade platform.
Several committee members have expressed their enthusiasm for this collaborative approach. David Frost, CEO of SATSA, praised the initiative as a significant step in ensuring industry voices are heard. “This advisory panel allows us to channel industry concerns constructively and work towards making Africa’s Travel Indaba a world-class event,” he said.
Dorcas Dlamini of Marriott highlighted the broader economic benefits, stating, “The success of Indaba not only boosts tourism but also creates jobs and opportunities for local communities.”
Andrew Camp of Sun International reaffirmed the industry’s commitment to the event, saying, “Africa’s Travel Indaba has stood the test of time and remains a key event for showcasing our award-winning products, services, and destinations to global buyers.”
Tourvest’s Martin Botha emphasized the importance of the show in promoting South Africa’s tourism offerings. “There is no prouder moment than when stakeholders from across the continent come together in Durban for this annual tradition,” he said.
Suzanne Bayly of Classic Portfolio noted the strong demand for participation. “Our Classics stand is fully booked, and we are excited to showcase some of the finest privately owned lodges and camps from 11 African countries.”
Kgomotso Ramothea of ATTA described her involvement as an opportunity to “drive meaningful conversations, foster innovation, and help position Africa as a premier global travel destination.”
Africa’s Travel Indaba 2025 will take place from 12 to 15 May at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The event will bring together global buyers and exhibitors from across Africa, reinforcing the continent’s appeal as a top-tier tourism destination.
