Business Botswana (BB) says it is aware of the ongoing electricity load shedding and its negative effects on businesses across the country. In response, BB says it has engaged with Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) to discuss the power supply issues and find solutions.

In a statement, Business Botswana said: “BPC has reassured BB that efforts to resolve the situation are ongoing, with normalcy expected to return gradually. Interventions to address the shortfall, include ongoing negotiations with ESKOM to renew the contract with more added to the grid. Additionally, operations at Morupule B are expected to resume in the next two weeks.

While BPC cautioned that the weekly load Management schedules may change due to the unpredictable nature of the power system, we implored them to ensure more certainty as the inconsistent schedules create challenges for business operations.

BB urges businesses and the public to adopt energy-saving measures, including using electricity efficiently, shifting high-energy activities to off-peak hours, and using energy-saving lighting.

Business Botswana remains committed to collaborating with BPC to ensure a reliable power supply and minimize the impact of load management.”
