Teachers in primary and secondary schools have been strongly advised not to participate in any school sports activities until their trade unions have been properly engaged by the Ministry of Sports and Arts, and have communicated the outcomes of the engagements.

This comes after the Ministry of Sports recently announced the launch of ‘School Sport and Arts’ to be held on Thursday 7th August 2025 at Lobatse stadium, pending the final agreement between the Unions and the Mandate Caregivers.

The event is expected to be graced by President Duma Boko as the keynote speaker.

Meanwhile, in a joint statement released Tuesday afternoon by the two teachers unions (BOSETU and BTU); remained steadfast that they have not been consulted on the detailed nature of the School Sports program that was launched. “Consequently, the roles and responsibilities expected of teachers remain unclear,” reads the statement.
