On Thursday, 8th May 2025, we successfully hosted the inaugural Kweneng Economic Summit at Ntsweng Site, Molepolole. This landmark event, coordinated by the Office of the Member of Parliament for Molepolole South in collaboration with Market Players, served as a dynamic platform for strategic dialogue aimed at advancing economic growth and sustainable development within the Kweneng District.

The event was officially opened by Hon. Moeti Mohwasa, Acting President of the Republic of Botswana, marking the significance of the discussions held. Several dignitaries were in attendance, including Assistant Ministers Hon. Moswaane, Hon. Motheothe, and Hon. Atamelang, alongside esteemed ambassadors from the embassies of China, South Africa, Nigeria, and other diplomatic missions, further emphasizing the summit’s international relevance.

The summit further convened key economic stakeholders, including local authorities, industry leaders, economic planners and community representatives, fostering robust discussions on critical areas such as:

    • Unlocking economic opportunities
    • Empowering youth and entrepreneurs
    • Promoting sustainable business practices
    • Strengthening public-private partnerships
    • Advancing infrastructure and innovation

Once again, Ntsweng Site proved to be an ideal venue for such a high-profile gathering, offering both historical significance and ample space for engagement.

Notably, discussions emphasized the importance of cultural heritage preservation in complementing economic advancements—an area of keen relevance to the work of the Museums.

The deliberations furthered underscored key action points, including the need for enhanced investment in heritage sites, the facilitation of public-private collaborations for cultural tourism, and strategies to integrate local entrepreneurship with broader economic initiatives.
