Vivo Energy has reaffirmed its commitment to Botswana following discussions between its senior leadership and government officials on the country’s economic and energy priorities. Stan Mittelman, the group’s chief executive, met Vice-President and Finance Minister Ndaba Gaolathe and Minerals and Energy Minister Bogolo Joy Kenewendo during a recent visit to Botswana. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the private and public sectors, with particular attention to energy security, infrastructure investment and long-term economic development.
The meetings form part of Vivo Energy’s continuing engagement with government as the company seeks to expand its role in Botswana’s energy sector. According to the company, several areas of cooperation identified during the talks will now move towards implementation. Vivo Energy Botswana, which distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, will continue working with government on initiatives intended to support growth in the sector. Botswana remains an important market for the group. Vivo Energy Botswana plays a significant role in fuel distribution and has continued to invest in infrastructure that supports economic activity. Mittelman said reliable energy systems are essential to economic development and that cooperation between government and industry is necessary to strengthen them.
“Energy is fundamental to economic growth. At Vivo Energy, we remain committed to investing in infrastructure, innovation and partnerships that strengthen energy security while creating long-term value for Botswana, its businesses and its communities,” he said.

Mittelman said Botswana offers significant long-term potential and remains a priority market for the group.
“We see ourselves not only as an energy supplier but also as a long-term partner in Botswana’s development journey. The strength of our relationships with the Government gives us confidence that together, we can deliver sustainable solutions that benefit today’s economy and create opportunities for future generations,” he said. The visit reflects Vivo Energy’s confidence in Botswana’s investment environment and its intention to deepen its presence through partnerships aligned with national development priorities.
