This afternoon the Minister of Local Government & Traditional Affairs Hon Ketlhalefile FC Motshegwa was in Tlokweng visiting evacuation centres and hot spots of flooding, to give support to the affected families, and inspire our Disaster Management Teams.

Tlokweng experienced flooding because of spillage from Molatedi dam and overflow from Gaborone dam. More water is flowing into Tlokweng village now, which means more families might be evacuated as the water is spreading further into the village. Residents are urged to cooperate with the District Disaster Management Team.

There is serious need for bottled water, food, mattresses and blankets to help people accomodated at evacuation centres, and therefore we plead with the nation to provide a helping hand. For donations contact;

• District Commissioner ‪(Mooketsi Lesetedi) 71 346 562‬

•Council Secretary (Joseph Kgabanyane) 71 231 883

The Minister paid homage to Kgosi Puso Gaborone, MP Phenyo Segokgo, Concillors, Disaster Management Teams comprising of civil servants, and volunteers . He thanked them for their dedication and commitment to the mission at hand.
