Selibi Phikwe-born and Maun-raised, ROYALLE, born Pearl Palesa Benifield, looks to become a household name in Botswana’s entertainment industry. The multi-talented songwriter, vocalist, and performer has an inspiring story of passion, and eventual discovery that has won the hearts of DBS Roadshow hosts.

Born on May 22, 1998, in the mining town of Selibi Phikwe, Royalle’s early life was one of constant movement. As her mother, a dedicated teacher, was transferred from one town to another, the family found themselves living in different parts of Botswana. Eventually, they settled in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. While the ever-changing environment may have made growing up challenging, it also exposed Royalle to the diverse cultures and sounds of Botswana—a foundation that would later influence her music.

Her love for music began at an early age, with ROYALLE singing at school talent shows. What began as a childhood passion steadily grew into a calling, with her distinct voice and songwriting talent setting her apart from her peers.

However, her big break came in 2022, when she was discovered by the DBS Roadshow, a nationwide talent search program organized by the Botswana Government’s Department of Broadcasting Services (DBS). The event was a collaboration with Big Dawg Productions, a production company led by one of Botswana’s most celebrated DJs, DJ FRESH. Through this initiative, Royalle showcased her vocal prowess and creativity to a broader audience, earning the attention of key figures in the local music industry.

The road to success has not been without its challenges, but for Royalle, the journey is just as important as the destination. Royalle’s music is a blend of traditional and modern influences, capturing the essence of Botswana and Africa while pushing the boundaries music.
