Gambling Authority Social Club Donates Life-Saving IV Fluids to PMH

The Gambling Authority Social Club has handed over a vital donation of 1,200 litres of intravenous (IV) fluid to Princess Marina Hospital.

With Botswana’s national health system under increasing pressure, the staff-led Social Club said the intervention was both timely and necessary. The donation is expected to ease shortages, support frontline healthcare workers, and help ensure that patients continue to receive life-saving treatment without delay.

The handover ceremony was led by the Authority’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Moruntshi Kemorwale, alongside Social Club Chairman Tumelo Batshu. They were joined by members of the executive team and Social Club representatives.

Dr. Machacha used the opportunity to stress the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, encouraging the Authority to actively promote healthy eating within the organisation as a way of combating the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)

Receiving the donation on behalf of Princess Marina Hospital were Hospital Superintendent Tshepo Machacha, Matron Cheneso Siku, Chief Pharmacist Mpho Mabuse, and Public Relations Officer Keemenao Sampisi.

Although driven by employee compassion, the Social Club noted that the gesture aligns closely with the Gambling Authority’s broader mandate of promoting social responsibility and the overall well-being of Batswana. The Authority reaffirmed its belief that a healthy nation is the cornerstone of a well-regulated and thriving society.

Beyond the donation itself, the engagement also served as a platform for health advocacy.

Dr. Machacha used the opportunity to stress the importance of healthy lifestyle choices, encouraging the Authority to actively promote healthy eating within the organisation as a way of combating the growing burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Reaffirming its values, the Authority emphasized that its role extends beyond regulation to meaningful community engagement.
