    Acute Global Appoints Thato Agatha Sedirwa as New Chief Investment Officer

    Group strengthens executive leadership as it accelerates regional expansion 

    In a significant strategic move, Botswana-based investment firm Acute Global has appointed Ms. Thato Agatha Sedirwa, a financial services and investment expert with over 20 years of experience across African financial markets, as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO). The appointment will take effect on 1 December 2025.

    Ms. Sedirwa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Actuarial Science from Butler University in the United States and advanced qualifications from the University of Stellenbosch Business School, including a Master of Philosophy in Development Finance and a Senior Management Development qualification. She joins Acute Global with a broad technical and strategic background spanning corporate finance advisory, private equity, valuations, capital markets, due diligence leadership, and ESG systems management.

    A Strategic Leadership Appointment

    Acute Global confirmed that the appointment forms part of the Group’s wider strategy to deepen its executive leadership bench and strengthen governance systems as it expands across the financial services value chain. The Group has rapidly grown its presence in insurance, fintech, pensions administration, debt collection, and structured financial products, and is positioning itself for more regional acquisitions in 2026 and beyond.

    The appointment of Ms Sedirwa indicates Acute Global’s aim to professionalise its management structure while developing a governance-focused organisation.

    Her professional experience includes senior roles at Grant Thornton Botswana, Africa Lighthouse Capital, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited, Imara Group, and African Alliance, where she led assignments involving mergers and acquisitions, due diligences exercises, capital markets transactions, equity valuations, investor relations, and portfolio performance assessments. She has worked across sectors such as insurance, mining, telecommunications, FMCG, hospitality, petrochemicals, property, healthcare, and transportation.

    Strengthening Corporate Governance

    The appointment of Ms Sedirwa indicates Acute Global’s aim to professionalise its management structure while developing a governance-focused organisation.

    The Group states that Ms. Sedirwa will strengthen investment discipline, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and strategic reporting within its subsidiaries. Her experience working with regulators such as the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) and the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) is expected to enhance Acute Global’s compliance with regulatory standards and corporate governance best practices.
