Gaborone – BA ISAGO University recently hosted the Red Bull Dance Your Style Challenge, an electrifying dance event that took place on September 18, 2024, at the University’s Gaborone campus. This thrilling competition brought together the University’s talented dancers, showcasing their freestyle moves in an intense battle for the ultimate spot to represent BA ISAGO at the finale.

The Red Bull Dance Your Style Challenge is a street dance competition known for its unique format, where dancers from various backgrounds – from hip hop to pop and kwaito – face off in freestyle battles. What sets this competition apart is that the audience serves as the judge, deciding which dancers move on to the next round based on their creativity, musicality, and charisma.

Lebowa “LB” Moroen, a representative from Red Bull, emphasised the critical role that BA ISAGO has played in nurturing young talent. She applauded the University’s unwavering support: “BA ISAGO believed in us when we were young, and nobody knew what we were doing. We were knocking on different doors and BA ISAGO said, ‘We got you.’” This sentiment encapsulates the essence of what makes BA ISAGO a vital potential future partner in planting the seed of creativity and growth among students,” she said.

The competition format is unique, allowing dancers to engage in one-on-one battles where the audience plays a crucial role in determining the winners. The battle will culminate in a National final, where the best dancers from across Botswana will compete for a chance to represent their country at the “Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals” in India.

This opportunity is monumental for local talent, providing them with a platform to gain international exposure and recognition.

Speaking on behalf of BA ISAGO, Ms Mpho Apadile, Assistant University Counsellor, echoed this sentiment, expressing her hope that Students will seize this opportunity to be recognised for their talents. “Events like these are crucial for showcasing what our Students can do and for connecting them with larger platforms,” she states.

This year’s challenge not only promotes artistic expression but also emphasises health and fitness among Youth. By encouraging participation in dance, Red Bull aims to inspire individuals to stay active while embracing their creativity. This aligns perfectly with BA ISAGO’s mission to promote holistic Student development.

As the countdown begins for this exhilarating event, the “Red Bull Dance Your Style Challenge” at BA ISAGO University is more than just a competition; it represents a celebration of talent, community, and opportunity. With each dancer taking the stage, they embody the resilience and creativity that defines Botswana’s vibrant culture.
