Speaking at the meeting the Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs Hon Ketlhalefile F.C Motshegwa said that it was encouraging that he found a dedicated and committed team that was ready to advance the commitments of the current ruling party. He explained that the manifesto team in their expressed desire to support ministries to align to the framework of the party manifesto was a welcome move to help build the desired culture of an agile, adaptive and responsive government. He indicated that success and failure of an organization often lies with the leadership of an organization and all should always ask themselves the culture they want to inculcate.

In his presentation the UDC Strategy Manager Dr Patrick Molutsi said the ruling party calls for empowerment of citizens, build a deep economy that offers Batswana opportunities for a happy and fulfilled life. He said the change of government further calls for a review of the Ministry mandate to align with the manifesto framework in strategic issues with more emphasis on democracy, governance and security. He said this includes responsive to issues of decentralization, meritocracy and commitment to abiding by the principle of service to the people.
From the presentation by Dr Howard Sigwele he emphasized the Traditional Affairs which talks to culture, role of traditional leaders and customs. He said the MLGTA must work hard in mobilizing Dikgosi to drive cultural tourism, culture development, fight against Gender Based Violence, revive initiation schools and teach the young children their culture.
Dr Molutsi further emphasized the social welfare pillar in line with the party commitments in addressing child welfare issues, old age and Ipelegeng amongst others. He indicated that the Business development pillar talks to project under District Councils being investment to generate income for eventual self-sustaining of the Councils without assistance from the Central Government.
