Absa Bank Botswana recently hosted the Absa Women in Business (WIB) series in Gaborone, welcoming an enthusiastic gathering of entrepreneurs and professionals for a day filled with interactive discovery, motivation and engagement. This comes after the Absa’s first series that was held in Francistown in August 14, 2025.

Absa’s WIB series are a part of the Bank’s long-standing investment in women in business and its role in the growth of Botswana’s entrepreneurship landscape by providing access to financial education, mentorship and professional networking.

With this year’s series themed “reimagining your business for a better future,” it aims to foster a safe space for women to collaborate, interact, share stories and learn innovative, actionable approaches toward business success in today’s rapidly changing economic environment.

Welcoming the women entrepreneurs, Absa Bank Botswana’s Public Relations and Stakeholder Manager, Spencer Moreri said “women have made tremendous strides in shaping our economy. Across industries, women are redefining business success, not only in terms of profit but also in driving social progress, creating employment, and inspiring future generations.”

Moreri added, “today, we come together to build on this progress. We recognise the unique challenges faced by women in business, and we are here to create a platform for innovative and sustainable solutions that empower women to thrive.

Through such initiatives, Absa champions financial inclusion and paves the way for women to excel in any entrepreneurial undertaking.”

At Absa Bank Botswana, we are proud to support initiatives like this workshop. We believe that empowering women in business strengthens communities and builds a more resilient economy. Our commitment to female entrepreneurs is part of our broader vision to unlock opportunities, drive sustainable development, and shape a thriving Botswana.”

Through such initiatives, Absa champions financial inclusion and paves the way for women to excel in any entrepreneurial undertaking.”

The series is part of Absa’s larger vision to be a force for good, empowering communities and businesses to bring their possibilities to life. From platforms such as this, that empower women to learn, connect and seek financial and developmental support, Absa champions its purpose as a means of sustainable growth and shared success.

Absa’s stakeholders such as the Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) were also available to share insights with the entrepreneurs on issues of tax administration, compliance and e-services and customs amongst others.

In addition, the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) also imparted knowledge on access to markets, records keeping, mentorship, financial management amongst others.

Absa business banking unit also offered available opportunities and sustainable recommendations for the entrepreneurs in the Botswana market.

Thus, through the efforts of these business series Absa not only provides a safe space for female entrepreneurs who have turned thoughts into businesses, and businesses into vital cogs for the country’s economic success machine but also solidifies its ongoing support of their efforts.
