    Innovation Botswana Day 2024 Press Conference Sets the Stage for Bridging the Innovation Divide

    Gaborone, Botswana – The Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub (BDIH) successfully hosted its press conference for Innovation Botswana Day 2024, under the theme, “The Next Factor: Bridging the Innovation Divide,” on November 21, 2024. The event, held at the BDIH Icon Building, brought together media representatives and corporate sponsors to highlight the objectives, programme, and vision for this year’s highly anticipated Innovation Botswana Day.  

    Opening the Press Conference, BDIH Director of Marketing & Partnerships, John Kgomotso outlined the significance of the Innovation Botswana Day initiative. Now in its sixth year, the event continues to be a cornerstone of the nation’s innovation calendar, nurturing ingenuity and economic transformation.  

    “The Botswana Digital and Innovation Hub is committed to cultivating a thriving ecosystem that leverages technology and entrepreneurship to propel Botswana forward. Innovation Botswana Day 2024 is a platform to showcase the talents of our local innovators and their role in addressing societal and economic challenges,” said Kgomotso.  

    During the press conference, representatives from key sponsors reaffirmed their support for the Innovation Botswana Day initiative and shared insights into their roles in promoting innovation and sustainability: Okavango Diamond Company shared details on their sponsorship of the Students’ Workshop and Tech Games, and Mascom Wireless highlighted their support for ‘The Pitch Sessions’, a platform for startups to present their ideas to investors.  Whilst, Yarona FM emphasised its role in amplifying the stories of innovators and fostering public engagement.  

    Set to take place on the 28th of November 2024, Innovation Botswana Day 2024 will feature an exciting lineup of panel discussions, exhibitions of cutting-edge technologies, and opportunities for startups to pitch their solutions to potential partners & investors. Key themes include digital transformation and tech-enabled solutions for national and regional challenges.  

    This year’s theme, ‘The Next Factor: Bridging the Innovation Divide,’ reflects all partners’ collective mission to close gaps in connectivity, opportunity, and access. 

    The press conference concluded with a networking session, where attendees engaged in meaningful discussions, setting the stage for impactful collaborations at the main event.  The BDIH invites all members of the media to join Innovation Botswana Day on November 28th as we celebrate the talent, and partnerships driving Botswana toward a knowledge-based economy,” he said.
