Employees of the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) will have to wait longer for their March salaries due to financial challenges currently facing the organization.

In an internal staff notice dated March 19, WUC’s acting Director of Human Resources, Letlhokwa Motladile, informed employees that the usual salary processing date of March 21 will not be met. Instead, payments will be made by March 31, 2025.

“Staff members are hereby informed that due to ongoing financial challenges, the corporation will not be able to process the March 2025 salaries on the scheduled date of 21st March 2025. Therefore, this serves to advise that salaries will instead be paid by March 31, 2025,” the notice read.

It remains unclear whether the corporation will implement any measures to mitigate the impact of the delay on its workforce. Employees are expected to express concerns over financial strain as they await their salaries.

The corporation has not provided further details on the root cause of the financial difficulties or whether the issue will affect future payments.
