The Ministry of Environment and Tourism, through the Department of Meteorological Services, wishes to alert the public of the ongoing rainfall occurring in most parts of the country. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 80 mm were recorded at 8 am this morning in some areas of the Southern, Southeast, and Ngamiland districts. Fairly widespread to scattered thunderstorms or rain are still expected in most parts of the country from today, 13th December 2025, and are expected to persist in the Chobe and Ngamiland districts.

Given the expected heavy rainfall and saturated soils, there is a risk of flash flooding in some areas. Therefore, the public is advised to take precautionary measures to protect against the potential impacts of these conditions.

These conditions are driven by the inflow of tropical moisture as well as mid-level atmospheric instability. Heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds, are expected across most of the country from 13th to 15th December 2025.

Given the expected heavy rainfall and saturated soils, there is a risk of flash flooding in some areas. Therefore, the public is advised to take precautionary measures to protect against the potential impacts of these conditions. Should anyone be affected by these rains they should contact the nearest District Commissioner’s Office or the Area Social Worker.

The Department of Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and provide updates as needed.
