Gaborone, Botswana – BoMRA continues to demonstrate its commitment to strengthening the country’s pharmaceutical sector through a collaborative partnership with the University of Botswana (UB). As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions, BoMRA is actively supporting teaching, research, education, and experiential learning to build a robust pipeline of skilled pharmaceutical professionals in Botswana.

This strategic collaboration was further solidified at the 43rd UB Graduation Ceremony 2025, where BoMRA proudly sponsored awards for the top three graduating students from the School of Pharmacy. The awards recognize academic excellence and commitment to the pharmaceutical profession.

For his part at the ceremony, Dr. Parthasarathi Gurumurthy, Acting Chief Regulatory Officer of BoMRA, emphasized the long-term vision behind the Authority’s sustained support: “This is not just a Memorandum of Understanding this is a commitment to developing Botswana’s pharmaceutical sector through strategic investments in our future professionals. These learners represent the next generation of regulatory scientists, pharmacists, and innovators who will serve our country and region.”

Professor David Norris, Vice Chancellor of the University of Botswana, expressed his gratitude during the ceremony, “We are immensely thankful for BoMRA’s unwavering support. Their investment in our students’ success is a clear reflection of their commitment to national development and academic excellence. Partnerships like these allow us to align our educational outcomes with industry needs.”
BoMRA’s sponsorship of awards and ongoing collaboration with UB are part of a broader initiative to advance Botswana’s capacity in pharmaceutical regulation, public health, and promoting access to safe medicines.
