Township Rollers’ new partnership with Bet267 could prove far more valuable than the headline P2 million figure attached to the deal.
Unveiled this week, the two-year agreement names Bet267 as Rollers’ official betting partner and shirt sponsor, with the bookmaker’s logo set to appear on the back of the club’s playing and replica jerseys. But beneath the branding rights lies a commercial model designed to generate additional revenue streams for the Botswana giants.
Rather than a traditional sponsorship arrangement built around a fixed annual payment, the deal includes performance-based commercial elements that could see Mapalastina earn significantly more than the guaranteed P1 million per season.
Bet267 Director Mpho Chamo said the company intentionally structured the partnership to give Rollers opportunities to create their own income beyond the sponsorship commitment.
“As Township Rollers, a club that has its roots in Botswana, we are delighted to partner with a company that has its heart in the right place, that promotes Botswana and its people for the betterment of their livelihoods both in sports and community development,” he said.
“Instead of just paying sponsorship money, we are creating a commercial channel for Township Rollers for them to be able to make money for themselves as a team, over and above what we are committing,” Chamo said.
The bookmaker’s guaranteed contribution represents a substantial investment, but both parties believe the real value will come from the commercial activities built around the agreement.
The partnership extends beyond shirt branding and will include match-day activations, pitch-side advertising, digital campaigns and fan engagement initiatives throughout the two seasons. Supporters are expected to play a central role, with reward programmes, promotions and interactive experiences planned around Rollers’ fixtures.
For Bet267, the attraction was clear. Rollers remain Botswana’s most decorated football club, boasting 16 league titles and one of the country’s largest supporter bases. The agreement also aligns the betting company with a brand celebrating its 65th anniversary while maintaining a significant presence in the local football landscape.

Rollers chairman Thapelo Pabalinga said the club was pleased to align itself with a company committed to Botswana’s development.
“As Township Rollers, a club that has its roots in Botswana, we are delighted to partner with a company that has its heart in the right place, that promotes Botswana and its people for the betterment of their livelihoods both in sports and community development,” he said.
Beyond the financial injection, Rollers view the partnership as an opportunity to strengthen the club’s professional structures, improve conditions for players and advance long-term sustainability goals.
The agreement also includes commitments around co-branded content, supporter rewards, responsible gambling awareness and community outreach programmes.
While the sponsorship figure has grabbed the headlines, both parties insist the real test of success will be measured by the commercial value generated over the next two seasons. If the model delivers as intended, Rollers could emerge with returns that comfortably exceed the guaranteed P2 million package.
