Chobe Holdings Limited has taken a bold and deliberate step to strengthen its impact beyond tourism, entering into a strategic partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) through its corporate social responsibility arm, Chobe Impact.

Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding, the collaboration reflects the organisation’s intentional shift toward deeper, more sustainable social investment, built on partnerships that are equitable, inclusive, and responsive to community needs.

With over 40 years of leadership in Botswana’s tourism sector, Chobe Holdings continues to position itself as a company that not only protects the country’s natural heritage but also invests meaningfully in its people. Through Chobe Impact, the organisation is advancing a clear vision: to create long-lasting value for communities by prioritising children and families at the centre of development.

At the core of this partnership is a commitment to expand access to quality early childhood development and education, recognising that the earliest years are critical to lifelong outcomes. Planned initiatives include the construction of pre-primary facilities, training of teachers and caregivers, and the strengthening of community-based childcare systems.

Importantly, the partnership underscores Chobe Holdings’ belief that sustainable impact is driven through strong, values-aligned partnerships. By working alongside UNICEF and local communities, the organisation aims to ensure that interventions are not only effective but also owned and sustained at community level.

The collaboration also targets foundational learning in primary schools, supporting improved literacy and numeracy outcomes while building the capacity of teachers and school leadership to deliver quality education.

Beyond education, the initiative reflects a holistic approach to development, including efforts to strengthen child protection systems, prevent violence against children, and promote safe, supportive environments.

Internally, Chobe Holdings continues to lead with purpose by embedding family-friendly and gender-responsive workplace policies, reinforcing its commitment to employee well-being and broader social responsibility.

The two-year collaboration represents a strategic investment in Botswana’s future—demonstrating how private sector leadership, when guided by purpose and partnership, can drive meaningful and lasting change.
