Court operations across the country will temporarily scale down next week after the Judiciary announced a two-day suspension of court sittings.

In a notice issued recently, the Office of the Chief Registrar said courts will not sit on May 26 and 27 as judges attend other official engagements.

The Judiciary however assured members of the public that other court services, including enquiries and filing of pleadings, will continue uninterrupted during the two-day period.

“Members of the Public are informed that Courts will not be sitting on 26th and 27th May 2026. Honourable Judges will be attending to other official engagements,” reads the notice signed by Chief Registrar, Mompati Taolo.

“Members of the Public are informed that Courts will not be sitting on 26th and 27th May 2026. Honourable Judges will be attending to other official engagements,” reads the notice signed by Chief Registrar, Mompati Taolo.

Court users with urgent matters have been advised to seek assistance from their usual registries during the disruption period.

The Judiciary further stated that normal court operations are expected to resume on May 28, 2026.

“We regret any inconvenience occasioned hereby,” the notice added.

The temporary suspension is expected to affect scheduled hearings and trials during the two days, although administrative services at court registries will remain operational.
